Lee Tennis red clay courts can be constructed directly on top of existing hard court surfaces. Or, the hard court material can be removed and the graded surface below can be used as a foundation for the new red clay court.
Court Conversion Process
- Reduce hard court slope to HAR-TRU specifications using crushed stone or clean fill.
- Install piping and cells for the red clay sub-irrigation system or piping for above-ground sprinkler system.
- The hard court surface is then covered with a porous, crushed stone base layer to a minimum three-inch depth and proper pitch.
- The stone base layer is properly compacted.
- One-inch layer of red clay material is evenly dispersed over the entire compacted base layer.
- The red clay material is watered and rolled to a desired compaction.
- Center anchor posts are retrofitted to industry specifications.
- Line tapes are installed.
- In as few as ten days, your red clay court is ready for play.
